In this art tutorial I explain, in a simple step by step manner how to draw a giraffe starting from basic shapes. We start by creating oval shapes to represent the body and top part of the animal’s legs. I explain simply how to work out the length of the legs and neck. This is because it is very important to get the proportions right before adding detail. Only then can we proceed to add a more detailed outline.
Once that is completed we move on to drawing the pattern on the giraffe’s body. Finally, we add a little light and shade to complete the drawing. You can easily put a curve in the giraffe’s neck so you can make the neck a little more fluid.
The art tutorial is aimed primarily at beginners and children. Although, anyone wanting learning to draw a giraffe could benefit from watching the video.
